Centre for remote sensing of snow avalanches (SeFas) is a joint project between Norut and NGI.

The primary research goal is the monitoring of snow properties and related avalanche activity with remote sensing products.

We will develop a georadar, usable on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). This setup can then be used to fly over a snow-covered mountainside to detect different snow properties like layering and depth, and map the avalanche extent.
