Research Scientist in Analytical Chemistry
Of special interest for the position is Norut’s daughter company Barents Biocentre Lab in Tromsø which provides state-of-the-art equipment for Analytical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Instrumentation relevant for this position is, amongst others, a GC-MS/MS, a LC-QqQ-MS/MS, LC-Q-ToF-MS/MS, UPLC-PDA, preparative HPLC, an automated peptide synthesizer, a microwave-assisted peptide synthesizer and facilities for organic synthesis (barents-biocentre.com).

Norut is seeking highly motivated candidates for the position as Analytical Chemist to join Norut’s Biotech research group in Tromsø as full-time researcher. The candidate will assist in several existing projects and are therefore expected to be a team player, but should also be able to work independently.
The work will include, but not be limited to:
- Perform analyses and other relevant work within existing and new projects
- Write and submit research and innovation grant proposals within relevant scientific fields
- Interact with biotech companies to develop projects/perform contract research
- Manage the analytical platform and daily operations in the Barents Biocentre Lab
Education and background
The applicant for the position as Research Scientist in Analytical Chemistry must hold a PhD in Analytical Chemistry or other relevant disciplines that includes mass spectrometric analyses.
The candidate must have several years of hands-on experience with LC-MS instrumentation and method development, preferably on triple quadrupole and Q-ToF instruments. GC-MS experience and knowledge about the Waters Masslynx software will be seen as an advantage.
The candidate must have experience from an English speaking laboratory in Europe, and knowledge of the Norwegian Institute Sector and funding possibilities is seen as an advantage.
The announced position is permanent. Norut has competitive salaries and good pension as well as insurance schemes. The candidates should be fluent in spoken and written English; fluency in Norwegian is an advantage.
