Use of remote sensing technology to map vegetation and climate change has earned Norut Tromsø a place in a top-level Nordic research programme.

Norut Narvik is participating in a new Nordic research project with the objective of developing energy efficient buildings for cold climate.

A drone fitted with air particle sampling instruments took off from Andøya Rocket Range on May 28 – just six weeks after the volcanic ash clouds grounded aircraft.

What effects do climate changes have on people and society in the north, and how can we adapt to the changes and take suitable measures?

“What Norut is doing is completely in line with the High North strategy,” said Foreign Affairs Minister Jonas Gahr Støre when visiting Norut recently.

Degradation of PCB involves two main mechanisms, performed by different microbes. Microbes adapted to cold conditions were found in sediment from Hammerfest in significant numbers.

Drones fitted with on board air particle sampling instruments can provide precise measurements of volcanic ash particle concentrations.

For the first time satellite technology has been incorporated in monitoring of changes in different permafrost landforms.
