Derek McKay


Derek McKay has a background in scientific engineering and operations. He has expertise in developing, constructing and commissioning instruments and facilities in astronomy and space physics.

McKay has a PhD from the University of Tromsø, which includes the deployment of an arctic radio telescope facility and the use of it for carrying out imaging of the auroral electron precipitation in the ionospheric.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society UK and has extensive international working experience, on optical, X-ray, radio and radar instrumentation applications, including robotic- and satellite-based measurement equipment.
